About Tom
Thanks for showing interest in my work.

I have been painting in oils since graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta back in 95.  I needed to find an outlet for my views about life, and it seemed just that I pick up the brush and see what color can do for me.  I instantly found love with the brush.

I first began painting abstract paintings, mainly because I did not really know how to paint landscapes in their true form,  and to do the scene justice.  So, abstract was my way of expressing myself and boost my creativity.  The landscape always kept calling to me, but I didn't know how to paint the light.  I acquired a french easel one year, and that easel ultimately changed my life.  The easel sat in my closet for over a year, just keeping it for special occasions and I would set it up in my studio for an extra easel to have around.

One nice weekend when the weather was perfect for outdoor painting, I grabbed my easel and ventured out into the unknown, outdoor landscape painting, or "en Plein Air".

Plein air painting is extremely adictive, it forces you to throw out all knoweledge of what I knew of painting before.  It changed my views, goals, and desires of what I wanted from myself as a painter.  I firmly believe outdoor painting has improved the way I perceive life, and how life treats me.  With art......the future is unknown, but, I'm up for the ride!
